Maintenance Mechanic plans and provides mechanical equipment maintenance; trouble shoots and solves problems for manufacturing and building equipment. Maintains records and equipment to reduce delays, costs, and breakdowns. Contributes to a work environment where all employees work safely and respectfully with one another.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for adherence to company policies including safety and the use of personal protective equipment.
  2. Responsible for maintenance on plant machinery and equipment. Responds to repair and part requirements to maintain all machinery at its highest level of integrity.
  3. Communicates and coordinates with production and maintenance supervisory personnel, equipment needs and requirements.
  4. Provides assistance teaching others the necessary techniques and knowledge of trade.
  5. Maintains all tools and work areas in an orderly fashion.
  6. Interprets mechanical prints, drawings and technical data to conduct maintenance of machinery.
  7. Assists engineering and production departments in the development and execution of ideas to improve products, machinery and methods.
  8. Determines plant machinery needs and requirements and communicates repairs and adjustments to maintenance and production supervisory personnel.
  9. Provides input on preventive/predictive maintenance programs.
  10. Assist electricians and engineers on routine tasks as needed.
  11. Regular and predictable attendance is essential in this role.


Job Requirements


A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent education or experience is required. A minimum four years proven mechanical experience required. Ability to perform welding, pipefitting, and millwright techniques necessary. Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulics in manufacturing environment preferred. Experience with layout and fabrication work is ideal.

Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and as a part of a team. Ability to gather and record necessary information, follow through with assigned tasks, and identify and correct problems within a timely manner. Must be able to meet deadlines and work well under high pressure situations. Tolerance for repetitive work in a fast paced, high productive work environment.


The mechanic performs in a warehouse and factory environment. While performing the duties of this job, the mechanic is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The mechanic will occasionally be required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. Regularly required to lift and/or move at least 75 pounds. Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

The mechanic is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, extreme hot and cold temperatures, and loud noises. Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration. May be required to differentiate colors and shades of colors. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision and depth perception.  The mechanic may be required to work outside of normal business hours.
