Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Regional Sales Manager, this position is accountable for sales and market development to achieve the profit objectives and market share goals for the residential and commercial roofing business, in conjunction with short and long-range strategies established by the Vice President of Sales and Marketing. This position will represent the states of Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa, and parts Nebraska, Illinois, South Dakota and North Dakota. 

 

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for adherence to company policies including safety and the use of personal protective equipment.
  2. Oversees and manages approximately $50-80 Million in external sales.
  3. Provides close support to distributor sales effort.
  4. Timely feedback to marketing regarding market opportunities, competitive intelligence and product requirements.
  5. Delivers effective presentation and demonstrations emphasizing customer benefits.
  6. Manages relations of high level major accounts in concert with Regional Sales Managers direction.
  7. Strategic account planning and collaborative development with team members.
  8. Responsible for annual sales and profitability targets including product mix, market share, distribution and pricing decisions.
  9. Provides monthly sales forecast to Regional Sales Manager.
  10. Analyzes market, customer, and product mix to optimize effectiveness.
  11. Escalates and resolves pricing, product and service issues internally.
  12. Plans and organizes promotional programs with team member execution.
  13. Manages budget for district including individual team member expenses.
  14. Develops agenda and conducts district sales meetings.
  15. Markets customer competitive analysis to determine distributor performance, sales rep. performance, marketing impact.
  16. Provides leadership that includes coaching, training, and development of team members.

 

Supervisor Responsibility

The District Manager is responsible to carry out the full spectrum of leadership responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws, and to ensure that subordinate supervisors provide leadership to their respective teams.  Responsibilities include hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. 

 

 

Job Requirements

 

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in business management or related area and five to eight years of experience in sales/marketing preferably in the roofing industry. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Ability to perform basic math calculations with addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Bachelor’s degree. Strong knowledge and demonstrated success selling through distribution channels. Ability to prioritize and organize.  Superior leadership, competitive spirit, and desire to win. Strong strategic-thinking and decision-making capabilities necessary. A proven track record of consistently meeting and exceeding sales targets, penetrating new markets and developing new business.  Makes decisions and/or impacts decision with intelligence gathered and presented.

 

Physical Requirements

This position may require working outside of normal business hours. Travel would involve 2-3 nights per week. Ability to perform light hand activity work at a computer and telephone station in an office environment for long periods of time. Ability to drive safely for up to 5 hours at a time. Ability to stand for long periods of time at customer and trade shows.
