Job Description

Position Summary

This position is responsible for establishing and implementing strategic and tactical marketing plans and communications designed to capitalize on market opportunities.  Responsible for planning and implementing sales, marketing and product development programs, both short and long range, targeted toward existing and new markets by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for adherence to company policies including safety and use of personal protective equipment.
  2. Develops a comprehensive and aligned strategic marketing plan.
  3. Oversees and manages all marketing programs, collateral, and marketing materials.
  4. Oversees and evaluates market research and adjusts marketing strategy to meet changing market and competitive conditions.
  5. Develops strategy and prioritization for company vision in regard to market position.
  6. Oversees all marketing campaigns, social media sites and Search Engine Optimization.
  7. Manages communications with internal and external customers.
  8. Oversees product development and manages company and product brands.
  9. Lead, direct and inspire the creative teams to effectively produce advertising and promotions
  10. Responsible for managing the contractor program.
  11. Oversees trade show events throughout the year.
  12. Oversees company participation in trade show events in the U.S.
  13. Supplies and assigns adequate resources to support the sales team.
  14. Oversees Malarkey Newsletter communications.
  15. Oversees Malarkey roofing associations, memberships.
  16. Manages sample creation and development for the sales team.
  17. Travels and attends trade shows and events throughout the year.
  18. Attends and presents marketing updates for the annual sales meetings for the company,
  19. Maintains working knowledge of marketing trends and best practices.
  20. Manages vendor solutions and contacts.

Non-Essential Job Functions

Supervisor Responsibility

The Director of Marketing is responsible to carry out the full spectrum of leadership responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws, and to ensure that subordinate supervisors provide leadership to their respective teams. Responsibilities include hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Job Requirements

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in sales, marketing or business administration or equivalent number of years of experience. Eight years of related experience with progressive management experience.

Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in the design and execution of marketing, communications and public relations activities. Strong creative, strategic, analytical, organizational and personal sales skills.

Experience developing and managing budgets, and hiring, training, developing, supervising and appraising personnel. Demonstrated successful experience writing press releases, making presentations and negotiating with media. Experience overseeing the design and production of print materials and publications. Computer literacy in word processing, data base management and page layout. Commitment to working with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams. Strong oral and written communications skills. Ability to manage multiple projects at a time. Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

Physical Requirements

Physical activities include continuous talking, hearing and frequent sitting in front of a computer.

Tolerance for repetitive work in a fast paced, high productive work environment. This position may require work outside of normal business hours. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, meet deadlines and work well under high pressure situations.
